Since 1970, Native peoples have gathered in Plymouth to
commemorate a National Day of Mourning on the U.S.
“Thanksgiving” holiday. That day is a reminder of the
genocide of millions of Native people, the theft of Native
lands and the relentless assault on Native culture.
Participants in National Day of Mourning honor Indigenous
ancestors and the struggles of Indigenous peoples to
survive today — against continuing racism and oppression.
United American Indians of North American asks supporters
to join them in this commemoration dedicated to the #NoDAPL
water protectors at Standing Rock and the struggle to recognize
Indigenous Peoples Day. There will be a special message from political prisoner Leonard Peltier. A campaign is underway calling on President
Obama to grant him clemency. Free Leonard Peltier!
