Manhattan’s 1,500-seat Town Hall was packed on Nov. 8 for “An Evening of Solidarity with Bolivarian Venezuela.” Those attending were from Central, South and North America as well as the Caribbean. A large delegation from Venezuela electrified the audience with speeches explaining the revolutionary process that is bringing accessible health care, literacy programs, decent housing and land reform to meet the needs of millions of Venezuela’s poor. Many speakers hailed President Hugo Chávez’s statements that the revolution must advance to socialism. Eleguá, an Afro-Venezuelan women’s drummer group, brought the audience to its feet during the rally’s finale. The event was initiated by the Alberto Lovera Bolivarian Circle and the International Action Center. Go to the PeoplesVideo.tv website for video and audio of the rally.
