Dear friend,
As education and state workers in Oklahoma prepare to launch a statewide strike on April 2, we’re excited to let you know that Workers World Party will be on the ground to support this inspiring and courageous struggle. We’d love to hear from you if you’re planning to be at any of the actions Monday, or if you’d like to connect with our delegation throughout the week. Feel free to email us at wwp@workers.org or call/text 713-503-2633 or 919-604-8167.
We’ve included a link here on lessons from the recent nine-day strike by education workers in West Virginia. In many ways, West Virginia took the first step in the growing fightback being led by multinational, largely women workers, particularly in the education sector, across the U.S. While the devastating impacts of cutbacks and austerity affect all working people, the banks, oil and gas companies, and other big corporations make record profits. The determined struggle by these and other workers — along with the students who are mobilizing by the hundreds of thousands against gun violence, and against cops and racist policies in schools and the school-to-prison pipeline, as part of the continuing Black Lives Matter movement — is what is needed to turn the tide.
