NYC: Join us at Pride this Sunday, June 24!
Please join The International Action Center at Pride this Sunday, June 24!
3 PM on 17th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues
Meet at 17th Street and 8th Avenue — see directions below
The IAC will be joining the Reclaim Pride Coalition’s Resistance Contingent this year at Pride. We will be marching with allies from Workers World Party, Peoples Power Assembly, NYC Shut-It-Down, and Bash Back NYC and other groups.
Heritage of Pride (HOP) is requiring that all marchers have a wristband to enter the march. WWP and PPA will have members at 17th Street and 8th Ave. to hand out wristbands. Other members of the resistance contingent will be helping also.
Directions issued by the Reclaim Pride Coalition:
Enter by going south on 8th avenue. You will not be able to enter from the South or East, so the closest subway station is 23rd street on the A/C/E line. Unfortunately, it seems like the nearest ADA accessible subway station is 34th Street-Penn Station, so marchers with disabilities should take that into consideration when determining how they will arrive at the staging area. As far as we know, no subway stations will be closed, and there will be no limitations on pedestrian traffic on 8th Ave.
Wristband Resisters Contingent
Many in the community are outraged by the requirement to wear wristbands. There will be a Wristband Resisters Contingent to protest the wristband mandate which will meet at another location and march to 17th St. and 8th Ave. We will have a delegation from the party attending this. If you have signed up to be a part of this please head to 23rd Street and 8th Ave in front of the SVA Theater to meet the contingent there. Everyone else should go to the meeting place at 17th Street and 8th Avenue.
