| This Saturday, February 23, the world will see two mobilizations. One will be an attempted invasion of Venezuela by known racist billionaire Donald Trump and his puppet Juan Guaido.

Marchers around the world see right through the trademark Elliot Abrams-style U.S. war provocations. The stellar achievements of the Bolivarian Revolution have won it goodwill built up over decades.
Anti-war forces of course remember the weapons of mass destruction; the “humanitarian” carpet-bombing in Libya; the incubator babies in 1991 and the Gulf of Tonkin resolution–all fabrications designed to sell U.S. wars.
The corporate media constantly states that countries have recognized Guaido as Venezuela’s leader. This is true of the governments of some of the world’s countries. Macron’s regime in France, who cracks down on the Yellow Vests, or the Haitian government killing protesters demanding justice—they recognize Guaido.
For the people of the world, it’s a different story, which is why the call to defend Venezuela has been translated into 15 languages. The achievements of the Bolivarian project have reached around the world, breaking through the lies of governments and media.
The people marching this weekend know that, since the Bolivarian Revolution in 1998, massive strides have been taken to uplift the working class, Afro-Venezuelans and Indigenous populations in Venezuela. The working poor have made tremendous gains because the government implemented policies and passed laws to fight racism, sexism, homophobia and economic inequality.
Their gains are part of the global struggle waged by workers and the oppressed against the wealthiest and most powerful capitalists on the planet.
Demonstrations will also demand “Money for Jobs and Human Needs, Not War With Venezuela!” In the U.S., President Trump doesn’t care about the poor here at home; he deprived government workers of pay for weeks. He doesn’t care about hunger in Venezuela, either.
Corporate media has lied about Venezuela as it lied about Weapons of Mass destruction to pave the way for war on Iraq. But on February 23, the world will see a contrast: between an invasion organized by an unelected representative of the rich — and a river of humanity marching in 100 cities to defend Venezuela.
