New York City — Cuba solidarity organizations held an emergency protest in New York City on May 31 to denounce the U.S. government’s intensified economic aggression and military threats against the sovereign nation of Cuba.

Demonstrators gathered in front of the federal Post Office Building next to the busy Moynihan Train Hall (Amtrak station) demanding an end to the oil blockade of Cuba the U.S. imposed on January 28 that has resulted in massive electrical power outages greatly affecting healthcare and other sectors of the economy.

They called for no war on Cuba, an end to the 60-plus-year U.S. economic blockade, and hands off former Cuban President Raúl Castro Ruz, who was indicted by the U.S. government on May 20 on the bogus charge of murder stemming from the 1996 shooting down of two planes operated by a counterrevolutionary terrorist group, the Miami-based Brothers to the Rescue. The protest was organized by the Cuba Sí New York / New Jersey Coalition.
