On Aug. 31, 2026, the U.S. military bombed Larak, a small Iranian island in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran responded by attacking U.S. bases in Jordan. Despite #47’s Truth Social posts claiming the U.S. military had heavily targeted Kharg Island as well, there is no evidence of that happening. 

The following is a statement from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on the aggressive attack:

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has strongly condemned the United States’ attack on Larak Island, vowing retaliation.

The IRGC’s statement followed an attack by U.S. forces on the Persian Gulf island of Larak, which killed and wounded a number of IRGC members and local people. The IRGC said due to failure in solving its domestic problems and the loss of its credibility among regional countries, the U.S.-Israeli enemy is trying to return to its evil role.

The statement added that in order to satisfy its own public opinion, the enemy has attacked the Larak Island, which led to the martyrdom and injury of a number of the IRGC members and civilians. The IRGC vowed that the Iranian forces will give swift response to this attack and punish the aggressors. Separately, the IRGC’s spokesman said the attack was a strategic and fatal mistake by the Trump regime during its economic war on Iran.

Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi added that this mistake will shift the balance against its perpetrators and will inflict heavy costs on them. He noted that the enemy will pay a price for this miscalculation in both economic and military arenas.
